Manchester based Hip-Hop producer AlgernonCornelius returns to drop his 2nd release: a dystopian sci-fi themed instrumental beat-tape.

The Sarni Deli EP is a concept record based on the eponymous protagonist; a 22nd century architect, alchemist and fugitive who sets out on a mission to propagate their own city, with hopes of imagining an alternative future to the dystopian mess in which they find themselves.

Much like the world of the fictional character in question, these new sonic textures were dreamt up after AlgernonCornelius became armed with new musical technologies. The result is a fast paced experimental adventure, in fact most of the tracks were improvised, sequenced and recorded live, adding to their precarious nature.

In stark contrast to his previous work (having released his soul-inspired debut mixtape ‘Happiness’ late last year) AlgernonCorneliussummons distorted breakbeats, cascading electronic glitches and muddy bass drones to illustrate the mad and sinister new universe of Sarni Deli. Each track plays a part in gradually constructing the mystical narrative behind Sarni Deli and their living evolving city; from the Jurassic honky tonk eeriness of ‘House of Dinosaurs’, to the brutal rhythmic artillery of ‘Planet Death’ and the subterranean groove of ‘King Skin’. Dank atonal future-funk for the post-transhuman condition.

The Sarni Deli EP is the first instalment of a triple sci-fi inspired saga from AlgernonCornelius, urging listeners to pay close attention to the dimension altering sounds of the near future. The EP will be available to download from bandcamp for free from Friday 18th March via AlgernonCornelius’s own imprint Instinctive Peoples.
